Jan Cesar taught at Greenwood Elementary School in Waukegan, Illinois for eighteen years. In 2009, on the first day of the school year, Jan discovered a lump that was soon diagnosed as cancer. Throughout her surgery and treatments, Jan's great courage and spirit to live well, laugh often,  and love unconditionally inspired adults and children.

Jan was concerned about the effects of her cancer on family, friends, colleagues, and the children in her care. Jan intended the book “A VERY SPECIAL SPRING” to help others dealing with cancer.  Told through the eyes of one of her second grade students, this is the beautiful story of a challenging school year and how Mrs. Cesar and her class coped with cancer.

It ends in the season of spring, a time of hope.

You may make a donation in any amount – and Joe Cesar will donate his tips for the evening. Local celebrities will be bartending with him. Entertainment by Katy and Doug Martin 5 to 7pm
