Duties

The following are the duties to be performed by the various supervisory committees:
Marketing Department Doctoral Studies Committee:
- To inform the student of all regulations governing the degree sought.
- To meet and review the qualifications of an admitted student and to discuss and approve a program of study.
- To solicit annual activity reports from the student and involved faculty and to advise on the basis of these reports.
- To guide the student in the conceptualization and execution of the Summer Research Project.
- To conduct an evaluation of the student's academic progress toward the end of the student's first summer term in the doctoral program.
- To conduct the written preliminary examination in the major field.
- To co-ordinate with the studentís minor department regarding the written examination in the minor field.
- To conduct the oral preliminary examination based on which the student is to be advanced to candidacy.
Dissertation Supervisory Committee:
- To meet to discuss and approve the student's dissertation proposal and the plans for carrying it out.
- To meet when the work on the dissertation is at least one-half completed to review procedure, progress, expected results and to make suggestions for completion.

- To meet when the dissertation is completed to conduct the final oral examination and to satisfy itself that the dissertation is a piece of original research and a contribution to knowledge in the discipline.
