Internship Opportunities for Students
Thank you for your interest in internships through the Marketing Department. We strongly encourage our students to gain real-world experience with organizations such as yours. Our students are always looking for good internship learning opportunities, and we appreciate your desire to help them broaden their educational experience. We publicize opportunities to interested students through an e-mail list to all marketing majors. We let the students contact you when they are interested in pursuing the internship. We do not screen the applicants or provide detailed information about the position beyond the job description that you provide.
Information to include in your Internship Description:
- A headline that describes the category of the position. (For example, Advertising Internship or Sales Internship.) Frequently requested categories include Sports Marketing, Sales, Marketing Research, Public Relations, Retail Management, and Advertising.
- A thorough job description detailing the tasks the student would perform, exposure to specific activities, and the general nature of the job. Additional information on required hours is helpful. This information will define your target market.
- Information on compensation, if any. Many internships offer hourly pay (at or above minimum wage), commissions, or an honorarium upon completion of a task. This is not required but helps to attract the most qualified interns. Students do not generally receive course credit from the Marketing Department for internships unless the position is unpaid and required by you, as a sponsoring organization.
- Qualifications and/or skills desired. Most of our students are computer literate. Most applicants will be juniors and seniors. If you have special requirements (such as owning a car, completion of a marketing research class, or the ability to speak a second language), please be specific about them.
- How to contact the organization. You can ask for resumes to be sent by mail, email, fax, or for telephone calls directed to an individual. Please Include a complete mailing or email address, telephone number or fax number. If the internship is for a specific time period, please include that so that we will know when to remove the announcement from our files.
How to Reach Our Students
The Career Resource Center in the Undergraduate Programs Office is a wonderful resource for you as a sponsoring organization for providing career related experience. Emails are sent at least weekly to all business students as Career FYI's and lists several job or internship opportunities for Eller students to apply for. We can also send out marketing internship information to our marketing listserv that all marketing juniors and seniors receive.
For more information on internships or career related opportunities, please email: career@eller.arizona.edu and an advisor will contact you and provide you with further details.
